A light heavyweight bout between Misha Cirkunov and Patrick Cummins took place at tonight’s UFC Moncton event in Eastern Canada.
Patrick Cummins enters tonight’s contest having gone 2-1 over his past three fights. In his most recent outing, “Durkin” suffered a unanimous decision loss to Corey Anderson.
Misha Cirkunov (13-4 MMA) has not competed inside the octagon since December of 2017, where he suffered a first-round knockout loss to former title challenger Glover Teixeira.
Round one begins and Cirkunov quickly takes the center of the cage. He lands a big punch and Cummins is in immediate retreat. Misha rushes in but Cummins is able to duck a punch and get under-hooks. He presses Misha against the cage and begins searching for a takedown. Cirkunov is doing a good job of defending the takedown early. Cummins is looking for a trip but Misha is wise to it. Cirkunov with some shots to the body. The UFC Moncton crowd is calling for action. The fighters exchange knees in the clinch. Misha with some good body shots followed by a knee. He takes down Cummins and winds up in full mount. Misha with some strikes from the top and then he locks in a arm-triangle choke. Cummins attempts to scramble free but cannot. “Durkin” is forced to tapout and this one is all over. A nice win for Misha Cirkunov in his octagon return.
