The light heavyweight championship will be up for grabs in tonight’s UFC 235 main event as Jon Jones takes on surging division contender Anthony Smith.
Jones will be making a quick turnaround, this after most recently competing at December’s UFC 232 event. “Bones” defeated Alexander Gustafsson via third round knockout that night in Los Angeles, thus reclaiming his UFC light heavyweight throne.
Meanwhile, since moving up to the UFC’s light heavyweight ranks Anthony Smith has gone a perfect 3-0. During that time, “Lionheart” has scored stoppage victories over Rashad Evans, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Volkan Oezdemir.
In the co-main event of March’s UFC 235 pay-per-view event, reigning UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will put his title on the line against surging division contender Kamaru Usman.
Woodley was most recently seen in action at September’s UFC 228 event, where he defeated Darren Till via second-round submission.
As for Kamaru Usman, “The Nigerian Nightmare” is coming off a lopsided unanimous decision victory over former lightweight title holder Rafael dos Anjos.
UFC 235 will also feature the promotional debut of Ben Askren who will be taking on former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler..
