UFC reps announced on Wednesday that Sergio Pettis and Ricardo Ramos will be competing in a bantamweight contest at UFC Minneapolis on June 29. The card will also include a newly-announced lightweight bout between Jared Gordon and Dan Moret.
Sergio Pettis is looking to bounce back from two recent losses against Rob Font and BJJ expert Jussier Formiga. Prior to these back-to-back defeats, Pettis demonstrated strong takedown defence and powerful striking in the biggest win of his career, a split decision triumph against former flyweight title challenger Joseph Benavidez.
Ricardo Ramos made a successful debut in the UFC in 2017 and won his first three fights in the organization against Michinori Tanaka, Aiemann Zahabi and Kyung Ho Kang. His last fight against Russian fighter Said Nurmagomedov put a dampener on his 12-1 record as he was stopped in the first round.
Jared Gordon will enter his UFC Minneapolis fight with Dan Moret on a two-fight skid, as he has recently been knocked out by Diego Ferreira and Joaquim Silva. Prior to these setbacks, the New Yorker was riding five-straight victories, highlighted by a pair of Octagon triumphs over Michel Quiñones and Hacran Dias.
Moret, on the other hand, is also riding two losses, having recently come up short against Alex White and Gilbert Burns in his first two bouts in the Octagon. These setbacks were preceded by a pair of submission victories, both of which occurred outside the UFC.
The UFC Minneapolis card, which will air on ESPN, will take place at the Target Center in Minneapolis and is headlined by a rematch between former UFC welterweight champions, Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler. Woodley won the pair’s first encounter by knockout.
