Tony Ferguson claps back at Daniel Cormier for recent criticism

Tony Ferguson

Tony Ferguson has hit back at Daniel Cormier for recent comments he made following Tony’s loss at UFC 279.

Last weekend at UFC 279, Tony Ferguson fell short in his attempt to defeat Nate Diaz in the main event of the Las Vegas pay-per-view. ‘El Cucuy’ had his moments but ultimately, couldn’t prevent falling to his fifth straight loss inside the Octagon.

Many have questioned whether or not the veteran should consider walking away from the sport, but the man himself proclaimed in his post-fight interview that he felt as if he was ‘back’ following what he deemed to be a fun fight with a fellow legend.

Daniel Cormier disagreed, noting that he felt Ferguson had been on a steep decline.

As you can imagine, the former UFC interim lightweight champion wasn’t pleased with DC’s remarks.

“@dc_mma Should Put The Sweets Down. Too Much Sugar Will Go To Your Head like Ol’ Fathead Khabieber. Once a hater always a vagina- cHAMP. -CSO- MF’as us”

Cormier has been known to be an opinionated man within the world of mixed martial arts which is hardly surprising, given that he’s an analyst and commentator for the UFC. Alas, Ferguson has always been defiant, and he’s always held himself to a high standard when it comes to what he can produce inside the cage.

The next step on his trajectory is unknown and there’s every chance he could have a few more nice performances at either welterweight or lightweight, but the short notice Diaz bout just didn’t work out in his favour.

What are your thoughts on Daniel Cormier’s comments about Tony Ferguson? Do you think we will see El Cucuy back inside the Octagon before the end of the year? Let us know your thoughts on this and his career as a whole down in the comments, BJPENN Nation!
