Jon Jones takes aim at Rashad Evans, Chuck Liddell

Jon Jones, UFC 232

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is rarely afraid to share his opinions on his fellow fighters. On Sunday afternoon, that’s just what the MMA legend did, this time taking aim at his former opponent Rashad Evans, and at UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell.

Rashad Evans was the first of Jon Jones’ targets. Apparently, Evans recently made some comments that implied Jones was using performance-enhancing drugs when they fought, and that Jones’ 2016 fight with Ovince Saint Preux was the only time he’s fought without these substances in the UFC’s Octagon.

When a fan tipped Jones off on Evans’ alleged comments, the former light heavyweight king did not hold back.

“It’s easy for him to talk shit when he knows he’ll never be in the top 10 again,” Jones said. “His theory makes no sense, I was freaking massive for that OSP fight. Literally bigger and more ripped than I had ever been for any previous fight. Hey Rashad 🤫”

Jon Jones also responded to a fan who asked him if he’d ever consider fighting the 48-year-old Chuck Liddell, who was knocked out by Tito Ortiz in the main event of last night’s Golden Boy MMA card.

Apparently, if Liddell ever calls Jones out again, he’ll receive nothing but radio silence in response.

“Yeah it’s official, I am never replying to chuck calling me out again,” Jones said.

Jon Jones will make his long-awaited return to the cage in the main event of UFC 232 on December 29, where he will rematch Alexander Gustafsson for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title.

Jones will enter this fight having not fought since July of 2017, when he knocked out Daniel Cormier. Unfortunately, this bout was quickly ruled a no contest when it was announced Jones had failed a drug test. The title was returned to Cormier, and after more than a year of deliberation, the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), handed Jones a 15-month suspension. Because this suspension is retroactive to the date of his failed test, he was eligible to compete again at the end of October. He’s 22-1 (1) overall.

Alexander Gustafsson, meanwhile, has not fought since May of 2017, when knocked out Glover Teixeira. With this win, the Swedish contender moved onto a two-fight streak, having also recently bested Jan Blachowicz by decision. Gustafsson is 18-4 overall.
