Father suggests Khabib Nurmagomedov has already reached agreement with NSAC

Khabib Nurmagomedov

Shortly after UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229, he leapt over the side of the cage and attacked McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis. At the same time, McGregor got into it with two of Nurmagomedov’s training partners inside the cage.

Unsurprisingly, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), the organization that oversaw this UFC 229 card, was not pleased with this chaotic scene. Discipline was promised for Nurmagomedov, McGregor, and all those involved almost immediately. As of yet, however, it’s been unclear what kind of punishment the fighters will receive.

For a time, it looked as though we’d get our answers on December 10, when both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor were expected to appear in front of the NSAC to face the music. Unfortunately, both fighters were granted continuances in their cases, and are not expected to receive their punishments until late January at the earliest.

That being said, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of Khabib Nurmagomedov, recently suggested that his son has already reached a deal with the NSAC.

“I don’t know how it will end,” he said of his son’s situation (via SkySports).

“As far as I understand, we will get a fine of 500,000 US dollars, and maybe we could not fight in the next nine months,” he added. “Of course, it should have never happened. Now we are just looking forward for a bright future and other lucrative fights.”

With his victory over Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov improved to a jaw-dropping 27-0 as a pro. While he will first have to square away his situation with the NSAC, he is expected to fight Tony Ferguson in his next outing.

What do you consider appropriate punishments for Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor after their UFC 229 post-fight brawl?
