Dustin Poirier is calling the shots now, says UFC ‘is #1 bullsh*t’

If one man has been left out of all the title talk atop the 155-pound division, it has been ‘The Diamond’ Dustin Poirier.

However, the top ranked Louisiana native is no longer looking to be kept in the shadows of the division’s elite as he is calling the shots for what will be next for him.

In the wake of the division’s champion Khabib Nurmagomedov receiving a nine-month suspension, it prompted Poirier to make his requests for how things will go down moving forward.

“It’s gotta be Tony [Ferguson] or Conor [McGregor] or we redo my contract. Otherwise I’m not fighting. This company is #1 bullsh*t

“At this point if you dont respect the body of work I put in. I don’t respect you.” Poirier tweeted.

Poirier raises a good point. The 30 year old WEC veteran has gone 8-1 since his return to the lightweight division in 2015. Currently riding a three-fight winning streak that consists all of TKOs, Poirier has looked better than ever in his career.

On his current streak, he holds wins over the likes of former UFC champions Eddie Alvarez and Anthony Pettis, as well as former World Series of Fighting champion Justin Gaethje.

Poirier’s last fight came in July 2018 but he was supposed to take on Nate Diaz at UFC 230 in November before suffering a hip injury that forced him out.

When asked if Poirier would accept a fight with the recently emerging Al Iaquinta who just defeated Kevin Lee for the second time, he had the following to say.

“With all do respect to him and his team the answer is no. Unless we make a different deal with the UFC” Poirier’s tweet read.

Seeing as Nurmagomedov will be on the shelf for likely most of 2019, Tony Ferguson vs Poirier seems like the logical fight to make at the top of the 155-pound weight class. But will it be…?
