It appears the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is still punishing people for the melee that occurred at UFC 229.
Right now, Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov are indefinitely suspended with a hearing on December 10. Well, it appears one of McGregor’s teammates, Dillon Danis and one of Nurmagomedov’s, Zubaira Tukhugov will be facing discipline by the NSAC as well.
They are expected to have hearings on November 14, according to MMAFighting, where Abubakar Nurmagomedov is also expected to face discipline.
It makes sense that Danis and Tukhugov are having meetings with the NSAC. Both fighters played a big role in what happened in the UFC 229 brawl.
In McGregor’s corner, Danis was apparently verbally antagonizing Nurmagomedov during and immediately after the fight. Following that, Nurmagomedov jumped out of the Octagon to attack Danis.
It was reported that Danis said racist things to Nurmagomedov in which he has since denied. However, UFC commentator, Joe Rogan said he did indeed hear Danis make such remarks.
“Danis was absolutely insulting Khabib, saying something to him and provoking him and then Khabib just jumped over the cage and attacked him,” Rogan said.
At this point, Nurmagomedov’s teammate and friend in Tukhugov jumped into the Octagon and punched McGregor. The UFC wasn’t too fond of Tukhugov’s actions and took him off of the card at UFC Moncton where he was supposed to be facing Artem Lobov in the co-main event. As well, the UFC has said they will cut Tukhugov, but to this point, it is unknown if he is still on the roster.
It is unknown what kind of punishment the fighters will be facing. It could be a fine or a suspension from fighting. If that is indeed the case, it is a big blow to Bellator as Danis is one of their biggest prospects and hasn’t fought since April 28 where he won his MMA debut by first-round submission. Danis is eager to get back in the cage and this may end up throwing a wrench in the plans of that.
What do you think the punishment should be for Danis and Tukhugov?
