The brash UFC boss claims he is once again willing to attempt booking current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov against former interim lightweight title holder Tony Ferguson.
The promotion has tried to book the undefeated Russian against “El Cucuy” numerous times in the past, with the bout always failing to come to fruition.
Despite that, there is no denying that Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson is the fight to make.
In addition to Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson, Dana White is also looking to book a rematch between former division champion Conor McGregor and surging contender Dustin Poirier.
“The Diamond” and “Mystic Mac” first met in a feathwerweight matchup at UFC 178 in September of 2014, with Conor McGregor emerging victorious by way of first-round TKO.
Since his setback to the Irish superstar, Dustin Poirier has gone 8-1 inside the UFC’s lightweight division.
As for Conor McGregor, the brash Irishman returned to the cage after a near two-year hiatus at October’s UFC 229 event, where he suffered a fourth-round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
If Dana White’s plans come to fruition, the winners of those two newly proposed lightweight fights will eventually collide for the promotions lightweight championship.
But before anyone gets to excited, do no forget that “The Eagle” and “Mystic Mac” are both awaiting punishment from NSAC, this after the now infamous UFC 229 post-fight brawl, with a hearing to determine theirs respective fates set for December 10.
What do you think of Dana White’s proposed lightweight matchups of Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier 2 and Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson? Sound off PENN Nation!
