Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor paid tribute to both Jon Jones and Anthony Smith following their light heavyweight title fight at UFC 235.
Jones defeated Smith via unanimous decision (48-44 x3) this evening in Las Vegas, thus reclaiming his UFC light heavyweight crown.
“Bones” utilized a plethora of different strikes and some timely takedowns to frustrate Smith for the better part of twenty-five minutes on route to the decision win.
Despite being outclassed by “Bones”, Anthony Smith showed why he was given the nickname “Lionheart”, battling through adversity to go the distance with one of the sports pound-for-pound best fighters.
Shortly following the conclusion of tonight’s UFC 235 main event, Conor McGregor took to Twitter where he commended both Jon Jones and Anthony Smith on their respective octagon performances.

The Irish superstar then turned his attention to “Lionheart”.

“Mystic Mac” has not stepped foot inside the octagon since suffering a fourth round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
Conor McGregor was briefly linked to a fight with Donald Cerrone. However, UFC President Dana White says the promotion now has other plans for “Cowboy”.
