Donny Aaron, the estranged husband of UFC flyweight contender Andrea Lee, was finally captured and jailed Wednesday after nine months on the run, per MMA Junkie.
According to a Shreveport, Louisiana jail spokesperson, he bonded out later the same day.
Aaron’s jail visit stems from an ugly incident nine months ago, in which he allegedly burned Lee with a cigarette and choked her, according to their former roommate and fellow fighter Andy Nguyen. This attack left Lee with several minor injuries and resulted in Aaron being charged with domestic violence/battery and false imprisonment.
In the wake of this incident, Andrea Lee asked for privacy, while police asked the MMA community for help locating Aaron, who they suspected may have taken refuge in a gym.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Donny Aaron has found himself in the headlines for negative reasons. Earlier the same year, he came under fire when it was discovered he had a number of Nazi and swastika tattoos. He has also previously done jail time on negligent homicide charges, having shot and killed an unarmed black man outside his home, asserting he believed the man was casing his house (h/t MMA Mania).
Andrea Lee has fought once since this injury occurred, defeating Ashlee Evans-Smith by decision at UFC on ESPN 1 in Phoenix, Arizona in February. The American flyweight is on a 6-fight streak, and boasts a 10-2 overall record.
Stay tuned for further updates on this situation as details emerge.
