On Sunday night (Sunday afternoon in North America) the UFC returned to beautiful Glasgow, Scotland with UFC Fight Night 113. In the second last fight of the undercard, Brazilian flyweight Alexandre Pantoja took on Irish veteran Neil Seery, who after multiple cancelled bouts, was finally competing in his retirement fight.
Unfortunately for Seery and his legions of Irish fans, things didn’t go as planned in this retirement fight. After two absolutely wild rounds on the feet, during which both men landed big shots, Pantoja grounded the fight in the third. From there, he put his grappling skill and clear strength advantage to use, locking up a body triangle, and ultimately a rear-naked choke for the win.
See Pantoja’s submission win, which closed the curtains on Seery’s career, below:

With this impressive win, Pantoja moves onto an incredible 11-fight streak, and assumes an impressive overall record of 18-2. Seery, meanwhile, hangs up the gloves with a pro record of 16-13, and a 3-4 mark in the UFC’s Octagon.
Thanks for the years of entertainment, Neil Seery!
