After the big announcement of UFC 229’s main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, the October 6th card is coming together overall.
With the event’s co-main event looking to soon be finalized between Derrick Lewis and Alexander Volkov, only more firepower is getting added.
BJPenn.com’s own Tom Taylor has reported that a top light heavyweight clash is now in the works as the No. 7 ranked Ovince Saint Preux is expected to take on the rising contender, No. 12 ranked Dominick Reyes.

A bout between Dominick Reyes and Ovince Saint Preux is in the works for #UFC229, I’m told.
The perennial top 10er, Saint Preux has fought just about everybody in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. But thankfully some new faces are finally coming into the mix.
Saint Preux has gone 4-1 in his last five with his only loss coming to Ilir Latifi in February.
The Knoxville, Tennessee resident would rebound in impressive fashion when he took on Tyson Pedro at UFC Houston. After being stunned early, Saint Preux remained composed and survived to end up finding a nasty and slick straight armbar finish.
His potential opponent, the hot prospect, Reyes has been nothing short of perfect in his career to this point as he’s currently 9-0 with all but one of his wins ending via finish (six KO/TKOs, two submissions).
Further proving how lethal of a finisher he is, Reyes hasn’t gone past round two for any of his finish wins.
Currently here’s what’s on tap for the rest of UFC 229. More fight announcements are sure to be made in the coming weeks.
Flyweight – 125lbs: Jussier Formiga vs. Sergio Pettis
Bantamweight – 135lbs: Yana Kunitskaya vs. Lina Länsberg
Welterweight -170lbs: Tony Martin vs. Ryan LaFlare
Considering the fight that is UFC 229’s main event, plenty of fighters will be wanting on to this one.
