Five more fights have been added to UFC 206 following the announcement of Daniel Cormier’s rematch with Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson headlining the card.
The UFC is currently rounding out the card in their return to Toronto, having added Landro Vanatta, who impressed in spite of a losing effort to Tony Ferguson, against Canadian MMA veteran John Makdessi, alongside:
- Former title challenger Valerie Letourneau (8-5) vs. Poliana Botelho (10-0) (strawweight)
- Olivier Aubin-Mercier (8-2) vs. Drew Dober (17-7) (lightweight)
- Rustam Khabilov (20-3) vs. Jason Saggo (12-2) (lightweight)
- John Moraga (16-5) vs. Zachary Makovsky (19-7) (flyweight)
UFC 206 takes place on December 10th and rumors are still abound whether or not Canadian MMA superstar Georges Saint Pierre will come out of retirement and fight on the card.
GSP has recently said he had enrolled into USADA’s drug testing pool, which all UFC athletes must do in order to compete. In addition, St-Pierre has stated that he has a big announcement to make next week.
The former welterweight kingpin hasn’t fought since a split decision victory over eventual champ Johnny Hendricks at UFC 167.
GSP relinquished his belt soon after, which has bounced around from waist to waist ever since.
Perhaps the biggest reason why GSP and the UFC are pursuing a comeback for ‘Rush’ was his record breaking fight with Jake Shields during the promotions first event in Toronto back at UFC 129.
Over 55,000 MMA fans filed into the Rogers Centre on that night in April, 2011, which remained a record-breaking feat until UFC 193. However, it still is the second-most highest attended UFC event in the promotions history.
