On November 12, the UFC will make its long-awaited debut in glimmering New York City with UFC 205. This mammoth card will mark the culmination of a long and arduous legal battle to legalize mixed martial arts in the state of New York.
In celebration of this bureaucratic victory, the UFC has stacked its New York City debut to the brim with some of its very best fighters.
In the evening’s main event, we’ll see reigning UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor challenge Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title. If he’s successful in this bout, he’ll become the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously.
The co-main event of the evening, meanwhile, will see Tyron Woodley defend his welterweight title against the streaking Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. This title fight will be preceded by a whopping third title fight, pitting reigning strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk against fellow undefeated Pole Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
The rest of the card, meanwhile, will feature big names like Chris Weidman, Yoel Romero, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, Kelvin Gastelum, Miesha Tate, Raquel Pennington, Frankie Edgar, Jeremy Stephens, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Michael Johnson, Rashad Evans, Tim Kennedy – and exhale.
Needless to say this is one of the most stacked cards in UFC history, if not the most stacked card in UFC history period.
As this landmark event draws ever closer, fans are doing their part to add to the hype by spreading the word on social media, designing awesome posters, and of course, whipping up their own promos for the event. One of the best of these promos can be seen at the top of this post. This promo comes from YouTube user Kwozymoto.
Instead of focusing on the stacked lineup of this card, this promotional video concentrates on the hellacious bureaucratic battle that led to the card’s fruition.
