“I think with her [Joanna Jedrzejczyk] saying that girls should still continue to bow down to her, I think that’s kind of still her not being as humble as I believe she should be. Especially after being defeated twice by the same person. I think she should give Rose [Namajunas] more props because Rose deserves to be there and she’s been a great champion since I don’t know how long she’s been there, a year now or whatnot.
But I don’t know, it’s kind of funny when someone who does some cocky gestures like that but to me, it doesn’t get to me because I never shit talk about anybody I just let my work talk for itself. But yeah, Rose is the champion, Joanna is not the strawweight queen.
When she wins again if she wants to call herself that again, okay. But right now she’s not.”
July 28th will mark the date of Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s first non-UFC title fight since December 2014. Her opponent will be the perennial top contender, the ‘Tiny Tornado’ Tecia Torres.
Jędrzejczyk has suffered the first two losses of her professional career in back to back outings with the champion, Rose Namajunas. Their first bout being the historic upset when Namajunas knocked her out in just one round.
For Torres, she has been a top contender at 115 pounds since the division’s UFC birth in 2014 as she was one of the contestants on season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter which introduced the division.
It was always expected that the two would cross paths at one point or another but most expected it to be with a title on the line. Instead, we’ll be getting it in a three rounder on the stacked UFC on Fox 30 card in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
