Rising star Sage Northcutt has had a quick rise to fame in the UFC. However, the popular fighter has come to find out that with fame comes scrutiny as the masses look you over under a microscope.
The young undefeated UFC fighter who is going up to welterweight for the first time in the UFC on Saturday spoke with the media on communicating with his fans and avoiding the trolls (transcribed by MMA Fighting):
“I don’t think it’s difficult,” Northcutt said. “I actually think it’s kind of funny, too. A lot of times anything that somebody tries to say negative it’s actually kind of funny, and I actually don’t listen to any of the negative stuff. So anything that’s positive, that’s the stuff I’m listening to. That’s kind of like what brings you up, so there’s always a positive side, and there’s always a negative side, and you choose which one to listen to.”
Regarding his fans reaching out to him, Northcutt says he does his best to interact with them through his social media channels.
“I definitely try to respond to as many people as I can,” he said. “Not the negative stuff, I never try to read that. If I happen to see one or so, I’m like that’s kind of funny. But other than that, I always try to reach out and talk to as many people as I can and get to communicate with them.”
