Former UFC middleweight contender and dangerous submission specialist Rousimar Palhares returned to the cage earlier today at Fight Nights Global 85 event.

After failing to make weight for his interim welterweight title fight with the undefeated Aliaskhab Khizriev, Palhares faired no better in his attempt to capture the promotions interim 170-pound strap succombing to the Russian standout via ground and pound in the very first-round.

It took Khizriev under one minute to finish Palhares which improved his overall record to a perfect 10-0.

Meanwhile, Palhares falls to 19-9-1 with the loss.

After putting together an impressive four-fight win streak whgich included victories over Jon Fitch, Jake Shields, Mike Pierce and Steve Carl, “Toquinho” has since gone just 1-3-1 over his past five fights.
