Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and WMMA trailblazer Ronda Rousey is officially a full-time pro wrestler. The former UFC superstar made a surprise appearance at the conclusion of tonight’s first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match in Philadelphia, PA.
Unsurprisingly, news of Rousey’s signing with WWE – which has been rumored for some time – generated lots of excitement among the MMA and pro wrestling communities. Of course, nobody was quite as excited as Rousey herself.
The former UFC champ gave a candid reaction to the big news in a post-event interview with WWE. See her reaction to the news above.
“I really don’t know how to process this,” she said, grinning ear-to-ear. “This is not something that I do every day. This is very different than fighting. I haven’t walked into any places to enjoy the event, I walk in to enjoy the result. It was a real pleasure to be able to enjoy, to soak up, to savor every single second. I’m just so incredibly lucky man.”
When Rousey walked out, the crowd went absolutely wild. The WMMA legend entered the ring, which was populated by WWE superstars Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair and Asuka, and simply pointed up towards the WrestleMania sign hanging in the rafters.
While Rousey is clearly thrilled with the way the night unfolded, she admitted post-event that her favorite moment of the night occurred back home, where her husband Travis Browne was watching the pay-per-view with his kids. Evidently, the kids didn’t know that Rousey was going to be a part of the event.
Are you excited to watch Ronda Rousey perform as a member of the WWE roster?
