Top ranked UFC middleweight Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza is currently slated to fight Tim Boetsch in a pivotal UFC 208 scrap on February 11th in Brooklyn, New York. While the fight is certainly a pivotal one that could see Souza claim a title shot against the winner of Michael Bisping vs. Yoel Romero, leading up to the scrap, Jacare Souza doesn’t want to hear anything about middleweight champion Michael Bisping.
Jacare Souza spoke to MMAFighting to explain why he doesn’t want to hear Bisping’s name mentioned:
“I don’t even want to hear about Bisping anymore, because he’s a p*ssy,” he added. “He wants to fight anyone but the top contenders in the Middleweight division. I won’t run after a p*ssy like Bisping. Everybody knows he became champion by accident. That was an accident. And now he doesn’t wanna fight a top contender. He wants to hatch the belt.”
Bisping of course is coming off a controversial unanimous decision win over Dan Henderson at UFC 204 back in October. The win marked the first successful title defense for Bisping after winning the belt at UFC 199 in June, where he knocked out Luke Rockhold on just two weeks notice to capture the UFC middleweight championship.
Following Bisping’s win over Henderson, it appeared as though the next middleweight title shot would be determined by two middleweight title eliminator bouts, the first being Souza vs. Rockhold II, and the second being Chris Weidman vs. Yoel Romero, which took place at UFC 205. Those plans changed when Rockhold withdrew from his scheduled scrap with Souza. With Romero’s UFC 205 win over Weidman, he became the #1 contender and Jacare Souza was subsequently booked for his February showdown with Boetsch.
Only time will tell if Souza will get a middleweight title shot, or who he will be getting the shot against!
