Donald Cerrone vs. Robbie Lawler has been rebooked
Good news!
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has rebooked the highly anticipated welterweight scrap between former champion Robbie Lawler and perennial contender Donald Cerrone.
According to Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times, the promotion has rescheduled the “Ruthless” vs. “Cowboy” tilt to UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim, California.
Just received word from @danawhite that @Cowboycerrone @Ruthless_RL is moving from Saturday to Anaheim's UFC 214 on July 29.

Robbie Lawler was most recently seen in action in the headlining bout of July’s UFC 201 pay-per-view event against Tyron Woodley.
Unfortunately for fans of “Ruthless”, Lawler suffered a first-round knockout at the hands of “The Chosen One”, surrendering his UFC welterweight title in the process.
Prior to the setback, Lawler had strung together an impressive five-fight win streak which included victories over Jake Ellenberger, Matt Brown, Johny Hendricks, Rory MacDonald and most recently Carlos Condit.
As for Donald Cerrone, “Cowboy” was last seen in action at January’s UFC on FOX 23 event where he suffered a second-round TKO loss to surging division contender Jorge Masvidal.
Prior to the setback, Cerrone had put together a four-fight win streak which saw him score finishes over Alex Oliveira, Patrick Cote, Rick Story and most recently Matt Brown.
This now marks the third time that Lawler and Cerrone have been booked for a fight.
The UFC had originally attempted to have “Cowboy” and “Ruthless” square off at this past November’s UFC 205 event in New York, but Lawler eventually withdrew from the proposed bout as he needed more time to recover from his setback to Woodley.
The fight was then booked for next weekend’s UFC 213 event in Las Vegas, but Cerrone fell ill with a blood infection and so the bout was forced to be postponed.
Let’s hope the fight gods allow this highly anticipated scrap to finally go down at UFC 214.
