Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy rescheduled

UFC 205 New York

After unfortunate news surfaced this week that UFC 205 has lost a highly anticipated middleweight showdown between Rashad Evans & Tim Kennedy, fight fans will be pleased to hear that the fight has been rescheduled.

Earlier this week when it was announced that Evans had pulled out of the fight, it was not immediately revealed what the circumstances surrounding his withdrawal were. Shortly after the announcement however, Evans revealed that he had been flagged during a pre-fight MRI, and while he passed all his medical tests, it was determined that he would not be granted a license to fight in New York.

former ufc light heavyweight champion

“I’m disappointed. I’m healthy. I don’t want anyone worrying about me. I’m fine, physically speaking. Never felt better. It’s just the commission and their rules. I guess they have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to this.”

Fortunately, Evans also revealed that this hadn’t detracted him from his middleweight debut, and he would be looking to make the debut soon.

Now, word has emerged from MMAFighting that the fight has been rescheduled for UFC 206, which takes place on December 30th in Toronto. The event will be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson, and will also play host to a bantamweight showdown between Dominick Cruz and Cody Garbrandt.

For Evans, he was looking to return to the win column as he made his middleweight debut after dropping back to back losses at lightweight heavyweight, most recently being KO’d by Glover Teixeira.

Tim Kennedy

Kennedy on the other hand was set to return to the Octagon after a two-year hiatus following the first loss of his career, a controversial TKO at the hands of Yoel Romero.
