Aleksander Emelianenko was recently sentenced to four and a half years in prison after being convicted of assaulting a woman who was cleaning his house. The woman accused Emelianenko of beating her up, keeping her captive overnight and stealing her passport.

Emelianenko’s last professional fight took place against Dmitriy Sosnovskiy in Coliseum Fighting Championships which is promoted by Oleg Rajewski. Rajewski is fighting for his employee, stating that the former PRIDE fighter’s conviction was “political persecution”.

“The fact is that there is pressure on the investigation,” Rajewski expressed to Soviet Sports. “That is a fact. If the process was quiet, Alexander would have probably already gotten a suspended sentence. We see that everything was done to put Alexander in jail.

“We want to punish and educate. Anyone can accuse another of something, but there must be some evidence to support it.”
