Another STACKED episode of BJPENN.COM Radio has arrived, Penn Nation!
We kick things off with our good friend, Duane Ludwig. “Bang” will give us his thoughts on the stalled negotiations for a super-fight between TJ Dillashaw and Demetrious Johnson, how he plans to help Curtis Blaydes prepare for Alistair Overeem, and we’ll also hear the latest in his journey of instructing martial arts students and helping them rise to their full potential.
Our second guest is UFC featherweight Artem Lobov. “The Russian Hammer” will help us preview his upcoming showdown against Alex Caceres at UFC 223 in Brooklyn, New York. We’ll get his thoughts on the matchup against “Bruce Leeroy,” the importance of a win to secure his future with the UFC, other options he has outside of the Octagon, and what it means for Artem to compete in front of the Irish and Russian communities in Brooklyn. Of course, we’ll also get the latest on Conor McGregor.
Next up we are joined by UFC heavyweight prospect, Justin Willis. While we did chat with “Big Pretty” prior to the announcement of his fight against Chase Sherman in Atlantic City, New Jersey; he spoke to us about his competition in the land of giants and why he’s ready for the elite. We’ll also hear what the AKA fighter thinks about the upcoming fights of his teammates, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier. Our fourth guest is the BJJ phenom who makes his highly-anticipated MMA debut this weekend in Bangkok, Thailand, Garry Tonon. “The Lion Killer” will give us the inside scoop to his first MMA training camp and preview his debut at ONE Championship: Iron Will. His ambitions to become a champion, the motivation behind this transition, the future of BJJ competition; we’ll discuss it all and so much more.
One-half of the headlining bout for ONE: Iron Will is their current bantamweight champ, Bibiano Fernandes. “The Flash” looks to defend his belt against the ambitious multi-weight champ Martin Nguyen this Saturday and further cement himself as one of the best in the world. He’ll be previewing the bout, giving us his thoughts on Martin as an opponent, what he has left to accomplish in MMA, and his prediction as to why Nguyen will be headed back up in weight with no third title.
The other half of this title showdown and the man who intends on taking a third strap for the record books, Martin Nguyen. On the verge of holding three belts simultaneously, “The Situ-Asian” will explain the motivation behind his pursuit of greatness and breakdown the matchup against Bibiano. He’ll also clarify his intentions for defending all three titles should he win on Saturday, any concerns about the weight-cut, and discuss his breakthrough into superstardom.
Closing out tonights show is TUF alumni and UFC welterweight, Dhiego Lima. We’ll be discussing his upcoming bout with fellow MMA-vet Yushin Okami in Glendale, Arizona in April, and what this opportunity means for his career. You’ll also hear Dhiego’s thoughts on the hard-fought and highly-debatable loss suffered by his brother Douglas against Rory MacDonald, moving past the frustrations of Jesse Taylor’s failed drug test, and how he’s matured as an athlete.
