ONE Championship held their biggest event to date this past weekend with ONE: A New Era which took place live from Tokyo, Japan.
The card featured several fantastic match-ups. Two of which included the promotional debuts of former UFC champions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez. As well as four big title fights.
In the second of those four bouts, we saw a rematch of one of 2018’s fight of the year candidates between ONE middleweight and light heavyweight king, Myanmar’s Aung La N Sang as he would once again defend against Japan’s Ken Hasegawa.
N Sang would score the TKO finish over Hasegawa in round five of their first bout. He would need less time in their second encounter as he ended things in round two.
Following the loss, the challenger revealed over the weekend that he suffered a pretty scary injury in defeat as one of his ribs stabbed
“I’m sorry everyone who supported me!” Hasegawa said on Twitter. “It is the result of working out with all my might from preparation. Thank you for your support! I will be hospitalized again, I got blood in my lungs. I will be hospitalized and treated.
“Today ICU is going to go, I have about 2 liters of blood from my lungs to get
“I did not stop bleeding of the internal organs, and it was decided to have an emergency operation in the middle of the night,” Hasegawa continued. “It was good not to have open surgery.
“I did not have open surgery in an easy-to-operate area. It seems that a rib fracture and blood have accumulated in the lungs, and it can be discharged as early as 3 days and 4 days. The image is blood collected in the lungs.”
After the victory, N Sang now finds himself likely to square off with ONE heavyweight champion, Brandon Vera for N Sang’s light heavyweight title later in the year.
All of us at BJPenn.com wish Hasegawa a safe and speedy recovery.
