Nate Diaz would fight Eddie Alvarez in a bathroom, but not on PPV

Nate Diaz

Last night, long-time UFC lightweight contender Nate Diaz spoke with ESPN‘s Brett Okamoto, confirming that he is interested in a showdown with UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

Apparently, however, Diaz discussed far more than just a fight with Woodley.

In a Wednesday Tweet, Okamoto revealed that Diaz also discussed a potential showdown with former UFC and Bellator lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez.

Unfortunately, it seems that despite the widespread fan interest in this potential fight, it’s not one that appeals to Diaz himself. While the Stockton-based fan favorite would happily settle any lingering gripes with Alvarez in, say, a bathroom, he’s not interested in battling the former champ on pay-per-view. For him, that ship has sailed.

“One thing Nate Diaz told me, not included in the story,” Okamoto said. “He would “fight Eddie Alvarez in a bathroom if he wanted to say something,” but not on a PPV. Nate believes the time for that fight was 2015 and he clearly holds it against Eddie that it wasn’t made back then.”

Back in the year 2015, Alvarez defeated Diaz’s long-time friend and training partner Gilbert Melendez by split decision. According to legend, Alvarez and Diaz exchanged some words back stage in the wake of this fight. In Diaz’s eyes, that was the year for a fight with Alvarez. 2018 just isn’t.

Would you be interested in a lightweight fight between Eddie Alvarez and Nate Diaz?
