Current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping will look to defend his title for a second time when he squares off with former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in the main event of UFC 217 on November 4 in New York.
The fight (GSP vs. Bisping) has been highly criticized by fellow middleweight fighters who believe that the French Canadian should not have received an immediate title shot in a division where he has no prior wins.
One of the most outspoken fighters against the Bisping vs. St-Pierre fight has been Luke Rockhold.
The former middleweight title holder, Rockhold, went off on “GSP” following his stoppage victory over David Branch at last night’s UFC Fight Night 116 event in Pittsburgh.
Rockhold urged “GSP” to back out of his “irrelevant” fight with Bisping, this so that he can have his desired trilogy bout with “The Count” at Madison Square Garden.
Bisping and Rockhold first met in November of 2014 with “Rocky” emerging victories via second-round submission (guillotine choke).
The bitter rivals would meet again in the main event of UFC 199 last year, this time with Luke Rockhold’s middleweight championship on the line.
Bisping, who was a 10-1 underdog heading into the rematch, ended up shocking the world in Los Angeles by crushing Rockhold with a first-round knockout.
Following Rockhold’s destruction of David Branch last night in Pittsburgh, Michael Bisping took to Twitter where he extended Luke the following offer.
