Last night’s UFC 201 event in Atlanta delivered with some memorable fights and solid finishes.
Tyron Woodley became the UFC’s undisputed welterweight champion by scoring a first-round knockout victory over Robbie Lawler in the evenings main event.
In the evening’s co-main event Karolina Kowalkiewicz picked up a split-decision victory over Rose Namajunas to earn herself a crack at the UFC strawweight title.
Here is a look at what could be next for the UFC 201 main card losing fighters:
Robbie Lawler
Should fight: Nick Diaz. Robbie Lawler had his impressive five-fight win streak snapped by Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC 201 last night in Atlanta. Way back in 2004, “Ruthless” suffered a knockout loss to Nick Diaz at UFC 47. Since then both men, Diaz and Lawler, have shared interest in a potential rematch and now is the time to book that fight.
Rose Namajunas
Should fight: Jessica Aguilar. Rose Namajunas suffered a tough split-decision loss to Karolina Kowalkiewicz at last night’s UFC 201 event. Meanwhile, Jessica Aguilar dropped a decision to former title challenger Claudia Gadelha in her most recent octagon appearance.
Matt Brown
Should fight: Tarec Saffiedine. Matt Brown suffered the first stoppage loss of his career to Jake Ellenberger last night in Atlanta. “The Immortal” has now lost two fights in a row and four of his past five overall. Meanwhile, Tarec Saffiedine is coming off a decision loss to Rick Story in his most recent octagon appearance. The former Strikeforce champion has gone 1-2 over his past three fights.
Francisco Rivera
Should fight: Rob Font. Francisco Rivera’s loss to Erik Perez at last night’s UFC 201 event was his third in a row. The knockout specialist is in desperate need of a victory. Meanwhile, Rob Font is coming off a decision loss to John Lineker at May’s UFC 198 event in Brazil. Prior to the setback, Font had earned back-to-back victories inside the octagon. A Font vs. Rivera matchup would definitely be a crowd pleaser, as both men love to stand and bang.
