Before Sage Northcutt even hit the showers after his hard-fought win at UFC Austin, Marc Diakiese was on Twitter calling him out. He has since followed up with a more polite presentation, clearly winking at the gentlemanly Northcutt, but he hasn’t stopped there. Diakiese is showing he’s serious about the fight by going in depth explaining his proposition. After hearing him explain it, it makes us want the match-up even more. We just hope ‘Mr.’ Urijah Faber agrees to it.
“I think it would be a good fight. [Sage Northcutt]’s on a two-fight win streak, and I’m on a two-fight losing streak. To be honest, I watched his fight in Austin, and I thought he lost. I feel the fight makes sense. He’s 10-2 and I’m 12-2. If he beats me, it will really put him out there. I bring a lot of attention to fights and so does he. He likes to stand up and so do I, so I think the UFC will like the idea and I know the fans will really like it too. I think right now he’s probably asking Mr. Faber if he should take the fight. To be honest, I don’t know he feels about it, but I want to take what’s mine. I know I can gain a lot from fighting him, and I think he can gain a lot from fighting me too.”
.Hello Mr @sagenorthcutt, super exciting win at the weekend. I’d be super excited to share the Octagon with you, on international fight week?!
Super warm regards, Mr. Diakiese.

“He’s probably asking Mr. Faber if it’s the guy with the red mohawk that’s calling him out. I think he gets confused an awful lot, so he probably thinks that it’s really cool that I’m calling him out. If you’re winning fights in the UFC, it means you’re good enough. I think he’s got great potential, and if he can stay focused, I think he will do very well. I think that I’m in a similar situation to him, so that’s another reason why the fight makes sense. From watching him, it looks like he doesn’t like to get hit. I’m actually surprised to hear that he’s from a Karate background, because he looks scared to get hit to me sometimes. I’m a guy who has shown some holes in my game and so has he. He’ll try and capitalize on my weaknesses and I’ll try to capitalize on his.” — Marc Diakiese speaking to MMA Fighting.
Two flashy guys who like to stand? Sign us up. When asked when he would like to fight Sage Northcutt, Marc Diakiese cited UFC 226 as a possibility, which would be a great addition to a card everyone knows is going to be absolutely gigantic. Place that anywhere on the card, from opening up the main card or closing out the FS1 prelims, and that’s a recipe for success.
