Ahead of their scheduled UFC 200 fight, Johny Hendricks gave an interview regarding Kelvin Gastelum, revealing that when the two sparred, it was Hendricks who got the better of Gastelum.

Now, with less than a week to go until the pair meet inside the Octagon, Gastelum reacted to Hendricks’ comments, while explaining why he’s more than okay being an underdog on the biggest card in UFC history.

He spoke to MMAJunkie:

“It’s like, c’mon man. You beat me up when I was one fight removed from ‘TUF,’ and you were training to be a world champion.”

“He’s saying I come forward all the time, and it’s like, duh, that’s what a fight is,”

“I’ve been in this position before, where I feel so comfortable being the underdog and stepping up and taking out whoever’s in front of me,” he said. “So this, for me, this is the biggest fight of my life. I’m fighting a former champion, and I’m fighting on the biggest card ever.”

Both men are in need of a win in this pivotal fight. Hendricks is coming off the first TKO loss of his career at the hands of Stephen Thompson, while Gastelum is coming off a split decision loss to Neil Magny.
