Former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett secured a much needed victory last night at UFC Fight Night 93 in Hamburg, Germany, when he submitted former UFC title holder Andrei Arlovski in the evening’s main event.
After a back and forth first-round which saw both fighters get rocked by punches early, Barnett was able to use his high level grappling skills to frustrate Arlovski on the floor in rounds two and three.
‘The Warmaster’ was able to take the back of Arlovski midway through the third-round and promptly locked in a choke which forced the Belarusian fighter to tapout.
The victory improved Barnett’s overall mixed martial arts record to 35-8. Josh has now gone 3-2 since rejoining the UFC ranks in August of 2013.
Barnett spoke about his big win and what might come next in the above video, which took place backstage following the UFC Fight Night 93 event in Hamburg, Germany.
