Jon Jones hires new world champion jiu-jitsu coach

ufc light heavyweight

The news surrounding Jon Jones looks to be back focused on his training after his recent traffic citations issues seem to have passed.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion is focused on his title fight coming up against the champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23. This fight will be Jones’ first since being reinstated by the UFC after battling legal issues stemming from a hit-and-run incident in 2015.

“Bones” posted an announcement regarding a new addition to his personal team with his fight approaching. Jones posted a photo to Instagram with Roberto Alencar with the caption saying, “Hired @tussagb & @baratagb as my official jujitsu coaches today. #Growth #TeamJones is only 68 days away from world title number 10.”

If you aren’t familiar with Roberto Alencar (@tussagb) and Rafael Freitas (@baratagb), they are accomplished Gracie Barra black belts. Alencar has a big list of championships taking first place to become the World No-Gi Champion in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2012, and the 2009 Pan American Absolute Champion.

Alencar reposted the photo of Jones and himself and said, “Honored to be part of this dream team!!! @jonnybones @sixgungibson @mmacoachwink @jacksonwink_mma @gbwear @graciebarranm @graciebarra @baratagb @izzystylewrestling #goat”

With Jones saying that he has three fights left in the light heavyweight division before moving up to face the bigger heavyweight fighters, he is looking to get his title back from Cormier first.
