After Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s fight with Rose Namajunas, the former champion never made excuses. However, she did mention that something personal happened going into the fight but never revealed what it could have been. Yesterday the news finally broke that Jedrzejczyk was dealing with an absolutely brutal cut that she kept under wraps until just now. Fresh on the heels of the news, MMA News Poland dropped a never-before-seen video from Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s 2015 fight with Jesssica Penne that the UFC PR team supposedly wanted to be deleted when it first dropped.
I am looking forward. I know I’ll be back stronger then ever and sooner then you all think☝🏼| Patrzę z optymizmem… https://t.co/HPJppJOvsB pic.twitter.com/HPPEcWhFjR

“People I worked with led me to critical condition. Now I’m just happy that I’m alive. I was screaming. It didn’t matter it was very late. The pain of putting my body back again in hot water was unimaginable. But I wanted to do it for everybody who wanted to see my fight. It’s a miracle I made weight. I was cutting weight for 14 hours. It was torture. I trusted them. Unfortunately they failed and this mistake is unforgivable. I forgive them as a human because that’s who I am and probably our relationship will remain but I can’t cooperate with such people any more.” — Joanna Jedrzejczyk speaking to Przemyslaw Osiak as translated by Bartek Stachura.
This hearkens back to the time where Cris Cyborg posted a candid video of just how bad her cuts are in order to strengthen an argument for the women’s featherweight division. Footage like this further shows just how awful and unhealthy cutting large amounts of weight is for the body. Jedrzejczyk told Przemyslaw Osiak in her interview yesterday that she had to cut 16lbs over 14 hours at UFC 217.
