Back in November, Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s dominant reign as UFC women’s bantamweight champion came to an abrupt and brutal end, as she was put down by a first-round punch from unheralded challenger “Thug” Rose Namajunas.
In the wake of this shocking, upset loss, Jedrzejczyk blamed a brutal cut down to the strawweight division’s 115-pound limit for her performance. Unsurprisingly, she’s hoping for a much better weight cut ahead of her upcoming rematch with Namajunas, which co-headlines UFC 223 on April 7.
Just 11 days out from this rematch, Jedrzejczyk provided an update on her weight. Apparently, she’s currently tipping the scales at about 122.5 pounds. Assuming nothing goes wrong at the last minute, this implies a very minor cut for the former champ and current number-one-contender. Good news for her fans!

“122.5 lbs,” Jedrzejczyk said in her Wednesday morning post. “If you want something done right… You have to do it yourself,” she continued, referencing her soured relationship with her former nutritionists, who she blamed for her recent botched weight cut.
Prior to her loss to Namajunas, Jedrzejczyk defended the strawweight title five times, thwarting game challengers in Jessica Penne, Valerie Letourneau, Claudia Gadelha, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and most recently, the fearsome Jessica Andrade. Jedrzejczyk won the UFC women’s strawweight title with a second-round mauling of the division’s inaugural champion Carla Esparza.
UFC 223, which goes down in Brooklyn, New York, will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between interim champion Tony Ferguson and undefeated challenger Khabib Nurmagomedov. The division’s current champion, Conor McGregor, is expected to be stripped before the card.
With her weight cut apparently well under control, do you think Joanna Jedrzejczyk can reclaim the UFC strawweight title from Rose Namajunas at UFC 223 this April 7? Join the conversation in the comments section below.
