Joanna Jedrzejczyk hints at future two-division title reign

Joanna Jedrzejczyk

The new UFC women’s flyweight division is slowly starting to take shape. By the time the current season of The Ultimate Fighter wraps up, the 125-pound weight class with have a brand new champion.

That champion, of course, will not actually be in a particularly enviable position, as they’ll have to deal with not only Valentina Shevchenko dropping down from the bantamweight division, but also strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who has repeatedly flirted with the idea of a move to 125 pounds.

Over the weekend, Jedrzejczyk made her latest hint at a possible move up to flyweight, posting a picture to Instagram which shows her toting two UFC belts. This picture was accompanied by a simple question:

“Who wants to see me [become] a two division champ?”

Since capturing the strawweight title from inaugural champion Carla Esparza, Joanna Jedrzejczyk has defended it against a procession of top-flight foes in Jessica Penne, Valerie Letourneau, Claudia Gadelha, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and Jessica Andrade. Her next challenge will occur in one of three title fights on the stacked UFC 217 bill, when she takes on long-time contender Rose Namajunas. If Jedrzejczyk successfully defends her title against Namajunas, she’ll tie Ronda Rousey‘s record for most consecutive title defenses in the history of the UFC’s women’s divisions. From there, there are likely to be many calls for her to move up for a new and exciting challenge at 125 pounds, and from the sounds of it, she’s all for it.

Do you think Joanna Jedrzejczyk could capture gold at flyweight?
