After a dry spot in the land of MMA, suddenly there was a mirage of beautiful fight announcements. They didn’t just trickle, but were an all-out tidal wave. Four massive fights were slated for UFC 218, two were confirmed and there are two more to go. If we take Henry Cejudo’s word for it though, then his fight with Sergio Pettis on the card is a done deal. The former flyweight title challenger posted this message on social media, saying that the fight on December 2nd is on.

Henry Cejudo took on a rough couple of losses back-to-back against flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and perpetual number two in the division, Joseph Benavidez. Cejudo changed all that when he went out at UFC 215 and demolished contender Wilson Reis in devastating fashion. He looked incredible, perhaps his best performance yet, and will look to continue this resurgence by driving through Sergio Pettis in a few short months.
His opponent is not shy of the spotlight. The little brother of former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, Sergio boasts a four-fight win streak and was the opponent Demetrious Johnson originally wanted to attempt his title defense record against. With this in mind, an exciting showing by either of these guys could result in the next title shot. Johnson defends his title at UFC 216 against Ray Borg, in the rain checked defense moved from UFC 215 due to Borg coming down with an illness.
