Gegard Mousasi: “I won’t miss fighting if I retire”
Surging UFC middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi is currently a free agent.
The former Strikeforce light heavyweight title holder, Mousasi, is riding a very impressive five-fight win streak which includes two stoppage wins over former UFC champions.
Gegard’s most recent win came at last month’s UFC 210 pay-per-view event where he scored a second-round TKO victory over former division title holder Chris Weidman.
Prior to that, Mousasi had scored knockout victories over Thiago Santos, Vitor Belfort and Uriah Hall respectively.
The perennial middleweight contender, Mousasi, recently sat down with Pop Culture Online where he discussed a number of different topics including what his daily regime is like while training for a fight.
“I wake up, eat crap food….I mean oatmeal and stuff, it’s not tasty, take my vitamins and then go do my strength and conditioning.” Mousasi stated. “After that it’s supplements, take a rest, eat again and then go back and do my MMA training. Back home to eat, sleep and repeat the same thing the next day. There’s nothing fun about it, it’s boring. I won’t miss fighting if I retire…hahaha!!”
Gegard also talked about his preferred style of fighting and stated that he doesn’t believe any current UFC middleweight can defeat him in the stand up game.
“I like to fight standing up. I think my striking at this moment is the best in the middleweight and if it’s pure stand up I will beat anybody in the middleweight. I feel like I have a lot of power in my striking but people don’t give me credit for it. Anyway….they will find out!”
