A key middleweight scrap between mixed martial arts veterans Gegard Mousasi (42-6-2 MMA) and Alexander Shlemenko (56-9 MMA) served as the headliner of tonight’s Bellator 185 event.
Despite handily winning the fights opening round after landing a barrage of punches, Gegard Mousasi walked back to his corner with a closed right eye. Alexander Shlemenko was able to catch Gegard with a beautiful overhand left early in the round which caused the damage.
Despite Mousasi’s nasty swollen eye, the officials allowed Gegard to start round two.
Mousasi was able to score a trip takedown early in round two and promptly moved to mount on Shlememko. When Alexander attempted to scramble free, Mousasi promptly took his back. Shlemenko was able to scramble free from the position and ended up scoring some good strikes to make for a very close second round.
Round three was all Alexander Shlemenko who dominated Mousasi for the better part of five minutes.
