Travis Browne Opens Up About His Loss To Fabricio Werdum- Exclusive

Travis Browne

UFC heavyweight Travis ‘Hapa’ Browne  spoke with the crew over at BJPENN.COM Radio and discussed a vast array of topics. The Hawaiian born fighter spoke openly about his upcoming fight, changing training camps and his loss to number 1 contender Fabricio Werdum. Browne held nothing back when talking about the loss and the mental anguish that plagued him following it.

Here’s what he had to say about the way the fight went:

“When my hand broke I kind of tripped out a little bit,” said Browne, “For three rounds, the first three rounds, I beat myself. If you watch that fight back, rounds four and five I rocked him like two or three times. My body was beat up. I put myself through three rounds of just getting my butt kicked. It is what it is at this point. Mentally, I just lost the three rounds.”

Browne went on to explain just how hard it was to deal with a loss like that:

“It was tough man. It was tough–I was depressed bro. Just tough to see it, I didn’t even watch the fight back for probably two months after. Actually almost three months after, I didn’t watch it.”

“I was angry, I was hurt, I was freaking pissed.”

When asked if there was ever a moment that he considered not fighting Browne made it clear that it never crossed his mind:

“No, not at all. I’m where I need to be. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. I just needed to re-asses it and see what else I needed in my career. It had nothing to do with me changing professions at all.”
