Jorge Masvidal doesn’t like UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. When Bisping ripped up a Cuban flag during Yoel Romero’s UFC 213 fight with Robert Whittaker – a flag Masvidal also calls his own – Masvidal’s dislike for the middleweight king ballooned even bigger. Apparently, however, his distaste for the champ is older than most fans would guess.
Jorge Masvidal recounted his longstanding dislike for Bisping on the latest episode of BJ Penn Radio.
“It’s just one of those things,” he explained.” It’s upsetting because he’s such a coward. I’ve always thought he was a coward to begin with. Long before the Yoel feud, I’ve always thought that man is a coward.”
Masvidal then looked back on the time Bisping spat on Jorge Rivera’s corner post-fight, a key moment in his ever-growing dislike for the middleweight champ.
“He spit on [Jorge Rivera],” he said. “People may have forgotten, but he spit on his corners, not even Jorge. What did they do? Maybe we have to do an investigation. Did they smash up your wife or something? Did they f*ck your wife, so you went and spit on them? What could they have done for you to spit on another human being that you’re not even fighting? So since then, I lost respect for him. And I always thought he fought like a hoe anyways. If he’s tired or hurt he always backs down, so I never liked his fighting style. But after he did that spitting thing, however many years ago, I was like this dude’s just a clown. He’s nothing but a clown. He’ll do anything for a Facebook like, for a f*cking Myspace shout-out. The guy will do whatever he can to get his name out there, and that’s something that I extra can’t respect as another man.”
Finally, Masvidal commented on Bisping’s latest indiscretion: the flag-ripping incident.
“I know we’re promoting fights and stuff, but if I’m fighting somebody from Brazil, I don’t have to get their flag and throw it on the ground and step on it. I don’t have to do that. You can talk shit and be witty about it and funny, but you don’t have to rip somebody’s flag up. That’s somebody’s flag. Maybe in England, or wherever the f*ck in England he lives, maybe they don’t care about their country over there. Maybe they’re anti-England. I don’t know. But we don’t take that lightly. He’s not a man, because he only did that when their was security. More security than the f*cking President has was in that Octagon. He would not dare do that if it was just him and Yoel. If it was him and two of his buddies and Yoel by himself, he still wouldn’t do that. I know he’s a coward.”
