Coach Edmond Tarverdyan on his critics: ‘I know I know how to coach’

Ronda Rousey coach Edmond Tarverdyan

You often hear in the sport of mixed martial arts that fighters experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

In most cases, it isn’t just the fighters competing in the bout that experience the rollercoaster of emotions but their team is also on the ride with them. Coaches and training partners who spend their time and efforts preparing for a fight also experience the joy of winning and sorrow of losing.

One person who can surely relate to this is Edmond Tarverdyan, who is the head coach of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. With Rousey’s sensational rise in the UFC down to her two devastating losses in her last two fights, Tarverdyan has been a hot topic for critics including fans, media, as well as other MMA fighters and coaches.

Coach Edmond Tarverdyan

The head of the Glendale Fighting Club spoke on this week’s episode of The MMA Hour and had a message for his critics.

“I know I know how to coach, you know what I mean? In the fight game, I did this all my life,” Tarverdyan said (h/t Marc Raimondi for MMA Fighting). “I was a professional fighter myself. What I did, what I could do, the abilities I have, I know and my fighters know. People what they think or what they say, it really doesn’t bug me. Sometimes just a little bit the coaches. If the coaches don’t understand and they make a stupid comment after they were kissing my ass when Ronda was on top, that’s a little bit hurtful. But it’s OK, we move on and it’s life. What I have to do is come out with another amazing, special fighter to prove what I could do. That’s all I could do. Really it doesn’t bug me.”

Do you think we will see another dominant fighter come out of the Glendale Fighting Club under the coaching of coach Edmond Tarverdyan in the near future? Let’s discuss this in the comment section.
