Last month Donald Cerrone had his highly anticipated rematch with Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight championship.
Unfortunately for Cowboy, Rafael dos Anjos started quick and landed a crushing liver kick in a matter of moments. Cowboy was unable to recover and ultimately lost via 1st round TKO.
Since then Cerrone signed to fight Tim Means in a headlining fight at ‘UFC Fight Night: Pittsburgh’ however Means potentially failed a USADA drug test and was replaced by Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira. Since then, Means has maintained his innocence in the situation.
Cowboy spoke to MMAJunkie to discuss his fight with dos Anjos, and how he’s fired his coaches since then.
“I fired all my coaches,” Cerrone deadpanned. “Fired ’em all. Started over. Headline: ‘Cowboy’ fires Greg Jackson.”
When asked if he had reflected on the bout, Cowboy responded with:
“For f-ck’s sakes, come on. No, I haven’t reflected on it.”
“I just didn’t show up,” Cerrone said. “That was it. He hit me with a great liver shot and f-cking put me down. What can I say? There’s nothing. It was just a bad night.
“There’s nothing to reflect on. I mean, what can I say? ‘Oh, maybe I didn’t warm up good enough.’ Or what, maybe the 12 seconds that the fight went, I didn’t do something good enough? I don’t understand what to reflect on. It would be different if I got mauled for five rounds. It was a 12-second fight. I got my ass whipped.”
So what do you think PENN Nation? Was Cowboy serious, or was he trolling?
