Early Tuesday morning it was revealed that UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos had pulled out of his UFC 196 main event scrap against Conor McGregor.
With the news of dos Anjos withdrawing from the fight there was much speculation as to who would offer to step in on short notice to save the main event. Many expected Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone to step in and take the fight given his ‘anyone, anytime, anywhere’ mentality in addition to the fact that he just fought on Sunday night.
The MMA world anxiously awaited news of Cowboy offering to take the fight and he delivered however may not be able to make it down to the lightweight limit of 155 pounds in time.
Will Nate Diaz step up next?
Confirmed RDA is off 196. Cerrone's manager says he's asked for it. He weighs 174. Would "get down as much as he could." That's one option.
