On Saturday morning, in the main event of the UFC’s latest trip to Singapore, longtime welterweight and lightweight contender Donald Cerrone will battle rising British welterweight contender Leon Edwards.

While Edwards represents a dangerous challenger for Cerrone, Cerrone doesn’t seem to be too stressed about the fight. He doesn’t believe the young contender will bring anything to the cage that he hasn’t seen before.

“I’m sure he thinks he’s going to go in there and just take over. Talk is cheap,” Cerrone told FanSided MMA this week. “He’s gonna come hard and he’s gonna come fast. There’s nothing that this kid is going to bring that I haven’t seen. I’m the old guy. With [being the old guy] comes a lot of experience and technique. This is his first main event, his first big show. I’ve been here countless times. It’s nothing but a thing for me. He’s gonna come hard and I don’t think he’s going to be able to keep the tempo he plans to press. We’ll see.”

Interestingly, Cerrone also divulged that he hasn’t studied any tape on his young foe. He’s left that part of the preparation to his coaches, because he doesn’t really care what Edwards does.

“I don’t know much about him,” Cerrone said. “I don’t follow the sport too much so I don’t know much about anything. And I definitely didn’t sit down and watch tape on him. That’s just one thing I don’t do, my coaches do. They are very well versed on what he does and we’ve emulated that in training, but I don’t give a shit what the fuck he does.”

Donald Cerrone last fought in February, when he delivered an impressive, first-round TKO defeat of tough-as-nails Hawaiian Yancy Medeiros. This win separated Cerrone from consecutive losses to Darren Till, Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal. He’s 33-10 overall.
