The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) issued a suspension dealing with a positive drug test on Tuesday, according to a report from MMA Fighting.

UFC lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira was handed the year-long suspension from competition after testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine, which is defined within the class of SARMS (selective androgen receptor modulators). Ferreira’s suspension will be retroactive to April 30, 2016.

Ferreira was randomly tested by the U.S. Anti-Doping Association (USADA) in an out-of-competition test prior to his scheduled bout with Abel Trujillo at UFC Fight Night 88. Ferreira was pulled from the bout after testing positive.

UFC welterweight Tim Means was recently suspended for six months after testing positive for the same banned substance. Means blamed his positive test on a tainted supplement, which USADA tested and confirmed was tainted.

Ferreira pled his innocence to the NAC on Tuesday but was issued the suspension. Ferreira made it known on Tuesday that he has turned in his supplements to USADA for testing and is waiting on the results.
