Derrick Lewis has a message for “preppy motherfu**er” Colby Covington

Derrick Lewis

UFC welterweight Colby Covington is perhaps the most polarizing fighter in MMA today. The streaking wrestling specialist has alienated a many fans, and fellow fighters – even outside of his rivals in the welterweight division. The latest fighter to share his gripes with Covington was UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis.

Lewis went off on the welterweight on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, blasting him for a previous bit of trash.

“While we’re on the mic, fuck Colby, whatever his name is,” Lewis said (h/t MMAMania). “Fuck you, motherfucker. Just so you hear that. Go ahead and put that out. I heard he was talking shit. He’s one of those boys that wears Polo shirts and as soon as you touch him, he’s going to call the cops on you. One of them preppy motherfuckers. I don’t know where it was on, I just heard he was talking shit.”

Interestingly, Lewis is not the first heavyweight to go after Covington. During a visit to Australia, Covington was assailed by former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, who ultimately attacked him with a boomerang. Covington then reported the incident to the police, which is likely what Lewis is referencing in the fiery rant above.

At present, Covington does not have a fight booked, though he’s made it pretty clear he’ll only settle for former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos or current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

Lewis, meanwhile, is riding an impressive TKO win over Polish talent Marcin Tybura. In the wake of his win over Tybura, he’s expressed interest in fights with Werdum, Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou.
