In just over two weeks, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will step into the Octagon for a highly anticipated showdown with Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson for the UFC light heavyweight championship.
The fight has been targeted on several occasions in the past, however injuries have delayed this highly anticipated rematch. Now, with just over two weeks to go until these two light heavyweight superstars step into the Octagon once again, Cormier has taken to social media to reflect on a birthday training session:
Leading up to the fight, ‘DC’ has stated several times that he doesn’t plan on taking the fight to the ground and using his wrestling to defeat Johnson. Surprisingly, the champ has expressed his desire to stand and trade with Johnson, who arguably has the most devastating knockout power in the entire UFC.
Cormier of course is confident that after feeling Johnson’s power in the first fight, he can shock the world and finish the knockout artist on the feet. In the pair’s first fight, it was the wrestling of Cormier that proved to be the difference as he repeatedly took Johnson down before ultimately submitting him in the third round to claim the vacant light heavyweight championship.
