When the UFC announced late Wednesday that UFC interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was pulled from the UFC 200 main event fight versus champion Daniel Cormier, people were stunned by the news.
With the fight being just days away from the monumental pay-per-view card, Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt was moved to the main event of the evening.
Looking back on all things UFC 200, it was perhaps even bigger news in April when Conor McGregor decided to “retire young” and the originally slated main event rematch featuring the UFC featherweight champion vs. Nate Diaz was also pulled from the event.
UFC President Dana White made the decision to pull McGregor from the card after his refusal to participate in media obligations to promote UFC 200.
Following news of Jones being pulled from the card on Wednesday, McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh tweeted, “I wonder if there’s any regret taking him off the card over a press conference now? ”
White, who was visibly disheartened at the press conference on Wednesday responded to Kavanagh in the most Dana White way possible. White simply replied to Kavanagh’s tweet saying he had “zero” regret, showing exactly why he is the boss.
