The UFC’s next trio of pay-per-view events is shaping up to be one of the best stretches of events in the organization’s history. Last of the three if UFC 227 on August 4th in Los Angeles, California which has just added a very fun featherweight scrap.
After verbal agreements over Twitter to fight each in the recent weeks, the UFC has gone and made the bout official between perennial top-five contender, Cub Swanson and the rising talent, Renato “Moicano” Carneiro.

The WEC original and fan favorite, Swanson will be trying to snap a two-fight skid after dropping back to back losses to two of the division’s very best in Brian Ortega and most recently, former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar in their rematch at UFC Atlantic City last month. This only the second time in Swanson’s 34 fight career that he has lost two fights in a row. Ironically enough, Edgar was also one of the two in his first one as well.
Brazil’s Moicano has quickly proven to be a legitimate threat in the 145-pound division. With his only career loss coming to the next title challenger, Brian Ortega, Moicano has recently earned two impressive victories over Jeremy Stephens and the surging Calvin Kattar whom he defeated at UFC 223.
A win will be big for both men as Swanson needs to snap his losing streak and Moicano wants to continue to climb the featherweight ladder.
The rest of the UFC 227 card currently looks like this:
Bantamweight – 135lbs: (C)TJ Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt
Bantamweight: Ricardo Ramos vs. Kyung Ho Kang
