VIDEO | Boxing world champion challenges fellow boxers to the ‘McGregor challenge’

ufc featherweight champion

Conor McGregor has already gone viral doing his version of Vince McMahon’s power walk.

Now, “The Notorious” is well on the way to going viral once again after his open workout for the media, which took place on Friday.

McGregor has always had a thing for movement, even working with a dedicated movement coach. Some have been critical of McGregor’s movement training but “The Notorious” has had success in nearly all of his recent bouts.

“Your body is in the same spot all the time,” McGregor said about his movement training for his fight against Jose Aldo (transcribed by Marc Raimondi for MMA Fighting). “What happens is people jump out of bed, brush their teeth, stuff their faces with food, make their way to the gym, barely warm up, do 10 rounds, go home, rest, eat, go back to the gym. You can just feel that body locking. I’m waking up and the first thing I’m doing now is spinal waves. I can actually hear it. … It’s like you’re loosening the cobwebs. And it’s been paying off for me.”

McGregor did some movements during his open workout on Friday that has caught a lot of attention with the media coverage all feeding the hype of the Mayweather vs McGregor bout coming on August 26.

Two-weight boxing world champion Terence “Bud” Crawford took to social media following McGregor’s workout and issued a challenge to fellow boxers to do the “McGregor challenge.” A few others have already taken up the challenge including IBF light middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd, IBF, IBO, WBA super lightweight champion Julius Indongo, and former heavyweight champion David Haye.

Everyone in the gym was doing their best Conor McGregor impression today, I think I won!! Lots of fun and jokes with coach @ismaelsalas8 and all of the @hayemakerboxing team. I truly hope Conor can make this fight competitive for at least a couple of rounds… hopefully his unorthodox mma punching technique may confuse Mayweather for a while, but I wouldn't put my money on it!! Let's all pray for an entertaining boxing match while it lasts! 🙏🏾 #mayweathermcgregor #moneyteam #conormcgregor @thenotoriousmma @floydmayweather
